The walled village was just me using the village communities of The Walking dead as an example of the building capabilities that could be fun.
#BUIDLING BASES STATE OF DECAY WALKTHROUGH FULL#
It doesn't have to have a full on community of 30+ people, the 12 would be plenty of survivors to operate all the available facilities if you could build them all in one base. I get it's a survival so limited access to facilities gives it a sense of realism, but you get what I mean? They don't have to exceed the 12 survivors, I'd just like to make my own base rather than being limited to a choice of 8 or so various existing buildings which I can't build every facility in. Originally posted by Protectron:The thing is that even if they did make such a base builder toolkit to play with in-game, the game becomes unstable and glitchy if you go beyond 12 survivors which is the current physical maximum. The endgame is that you get drawn into the cold war between Red Talon and The Network, and before it becomes a hot war towards the end you can basically choose to join either of them OR create a third faction. Then you encounter other small and large communities, where some are hostile and others are neutral or friendly. As you get into the 10+ survivors range, your group becomes one of the influential communities in the HUGE map. It would be cool that if in SoD3 you start off as a single character seeking shelter in a small community, and then you gradually gain leadership of that community as it grows in size and power (gameplay as the whole community as usual). It just doesn't feel like it when you play the game.

By clearing a map of Plague Hearts you are supposedly stopping the zombies' ability to replenish themselves, thus that map in its entirety is one community under your leadership. The Enclaves are clearly meant to be a part of your community, just in an "outpost" off-base. There would literally need to be sieges with thousands of zombies. The game is simply not made to handle an actual community-sized community, and the 50 zombies that can be active at once would be laughable for 200 heavily armed people in a base the size of a small town. The thing is that even if they did make such a base builder toolkit to play with in-game, the game becomes unstable and glitchy if you go beyond 12 survivors which is the current physical maximum. But, if SoD introduced actual sandbox style base building then it would literally be my dream game! I understand the logic of why they've done it the way they have, as it's a survival so you shouldn't have all the luxuries, as well as you NPCs knowing where to go when you save them might be difficult if you can literally build anywhere on the map. Especially if the map grows to Far Cry or GTA kind of sizes, in the next SoD. It then removes the limited building space for the facilities and give us the ability to expand our safe house into a community like neighbourhoods in The Walking Dead where they build a wall around the area. You could still choose to secure an existing building, traditional State of Decay style, if you don't want to build though. I love the general Idea of this game, rescuing survivors who's skills actually contribute to your base's efficiency etc.īut, the one thing I would love State of Decay to introduce is the capability to do actual base building from scratch, harvest wood, stone, etc and build my own base (like Grounded, 7 Days to Die, Minecraft, etc) but not building with blocks like Minecraft and 7DtD, using the Grounded wall and floor panel style building style to keep the realism.
